Virtual Youth Clubs
Cumann na bhFiann creates a national network for young people to use and improve their spoken Irish in an informal setting outside the school system. This is achieved through the organisation of youth clubs, national and regional events, tours and activities.
Local Clubs – Nationwide
We were delighted to have been able to open some of our local clubs earlier in the year after a two year break, for a trial period between February and April 2022. These clubs will re-open again in halls all over the country after the summer break.
Since the weekly youth clubs closed in early March 2020 due to COVID-19, we have organised Virtual Clubs online with 38 weekly Clubs taking place throughout 2021. From the feedback received, these Virtual Clubs proved very successful, giving the opportunity to young people to keep up with their spoken Irish during a time when this was not possible at school. Speaking Irish regularly is without doubt the best way to become fluent and confident in the language. Our Virtual Clubs are aimed at various age groups (10-12, 13-15, 16-18) with the numbers limited to ensure full participation by everyone.
